Silicon wafers are key materials made from the element silicon.
Silicon is the second largest element on the earth’s surface after oxygen and is widely found in soil and rocks. However, the material used in the manufacture of silicon wafers is mainly derived from the refining of quartz.
Cylindrical silicon rods called ingots are used as the raw material in the manufacturing process of silicon wafers. Silicon ingots are made from high-purity silicon crystals and are produced in two main ways:
one is by inserting seed silicon rods into a furnace and growing them in suspension while rotating them at high speeds, and the other is by attaching the raw material to seed monocrystalline silicon material and inductively heating the boundary surfaces,
which transforms the polycrystalline silicon material into monocrystals to complete the production of silicon ingots.

Silicon wafers, on the other hand, are made by cutting the ingots into thin sheets.
This step requires precise cutting techniques and equipment to ensure that the size and shape of the silicon wafer meets the design requirements.
